care
The Everyday Jewelry Care Ritual
Ninety seconds of care, three times a week. That's all your jewelry needs to last decades.
The single most common email we get: "will this still look good a year from now?" Yes — if you treat it like an expensive t-shirt, not a disposable one.
The 90-second weekly ritual
- Lay each piece on the included polishing cloth.
- Buff gently — no pressure, just motion. Think dusting, not scrubbing.
- Store in the pouch, flat. Not piled.
Do this once a week and most pieces never need anything else.
The "last on, first off" rule
Jewelry goes on after perfume, lotion, hairspray, sunscreen. It comes off before showers, exercise, pool, sleep.
That one habit prevents 95% of the damage we see.
By material
18K gold vermeil — Water is fine in small doses (rain, short shower). Avoid chlorine, saltwater, bleach. Never use silver polish on vermeil — it strips the gold layer.
Sterling silver — It tarnishes. This is normal and reversible. Our silver pieces include an anti-tarnish strip in the pouch; polish with the cloth when shine dulls.
Freshwater pearls — The most delicate of the three. No chemicals. No ultrasonic cleaners. Wipe with a soft damp cloth (not dry — damp protects from micro-scratches) and store flat, separate from metal.
When something goes wrong
Accidents happen — snagged earring, bent clasp, lost stone. Email hello@coralielu.com with a photo. Within the 2-year warranty we repair free. After, we charge at cost.
For vermeil re-plating: lifetime, at the cost of shipping. Send it in and we'll return it looking new.
TL;DR
90 seconds a week. Put it on last, take it off first. Pouch, don't pile. You'll wear it in ten years.
