Sustainability

Intentional, not perfect.

Jewelry can't be carbon neutral. Mining gold is inherently extractive, pearls grow in controlled environments that affect local ecology, and international shipping has a footprint. We won't pretend otherwise.

What we can do is make intentional choices at every step. Here's the list.

Recycled metals

100% of our silver and brass bases are recycled, sourced from certified refiners who process industrial and electronic scrap. No virgin mining feeds our pipeline.

Gold chain of custody

The 18K gold in our vermeil is sourced from RJC-certified (Responsible Jewellery Council) suppliers. We ask for certificates on every batch.

Lab-grown stones

Where we use colored stones, we default to lab-grown: same chemistry, same optical performance, a fraction of the environmental and human cost.

Pearl sourcing

Our freshwater pearls come from long-term partner farms in Zhejiang, China. They follow the Sustainable Pearls standards: water quality monitoring, no antibiotic use, and fair labor certification through BSCI.

Packaging

All boxes are FSC-certified kraft paper. Pouches are unbleached cotton. The ribbon is GOTS-certified organic. Zero plastic in what you receive.

Shipping

We consolidate orders and ship by sea-freight where possible for inventory restocks (about 85% of our volume). Individual customer orders ship by air — we're upfront about that. We offset the air portion through Gold Standard projects and report the numbers annually.

Circular: buy-back and re-plating

Every Coralie Lu vermeil piece is eligible for lifetime free re-plating (you pay return shipping only). We'd rather restore than replace.

If you're done with a piece, we'll take it back — any of ours, any age, any condition — and credit it against your next order. Circular economy, in practice.
